Great question. We watched ESPN out of tradition for the first round but they ticked me off by not announcing the details of the trades. So in the second round we went to NFL network which somehow seemed mellower and nicer.

The Mike Mitchell pick seemed very strange to me, an outsider concerning Oakland. By the way, I'm trying to find out if more fans prefer ESPN or NFL Network for coverage. Click educlaytion if you want to weigh in on the debate.

While I share your belief about Smith and Jennings, I am still hoping we draft more O-line. All O-Line All Day!

Duke! Don't be our latest Rich Harden. Dallas Braden opening day? I barely remember all of the other pitchers.
I did see the ALCS 1989 Game 2. Rickey stole 4 bases. Eck closed. Was on MLB.
I was in school at the time without a TV. A day game.

Agree with you that the season should stay as it is. In addition to your points, I think a longer season also means yet another plateau in the record books. Example: Jim Brown gained his yards in only 12 games, whereas Walter Payton broke Brown's record, but had more games to do it in, etc.

There's also the additional cost to fans of two extra games, at a time when people are pretty tight for discretionary spending. Maybe the NFL just wants the TV sponsorship dollars and doesn't care about the fans (gee, ya think?)!

I love football, as you do, and although the wasteland between the Super Bowl and March Madness if tough to endure (Spring Training notwithstanding), I'd still like to see the season stay as it is, and retain some quality of play.

The NFL oughta be able to limp along (pun intended) on what they make now.

I agree 100% on everything you said. The idea of having 6th, 7th, and 8th place teams in power conferences like the Big East and the Big Ten get an at-large bid over a team who is in 2nd, 3rd, or even won their mid-major conference is a crime. The committee is literally stealing an opportunity and a learning experience for these kids who gave their hearts out every game just to make it there, and then for them to be told they weren't good enough, but a 7th place team in the Big East is?

The NCAA selection committee needs to get their heads out of their you-know-whats and realize what they're doing. The name of the conference is not what they're choosing, it's the talented groups of players from smaller and less publicized schools that are getting the chance at a once in a lifetime opportunity, or at least they should be...

It's time to faze out the middling majors. Only four at-large bids for mid majors is ridiculous beyond belief. How can you leave quality teams like Creighton, St. Mary's and San Diego State out? If those teams are undeserving, then why is everyone saying this might be the strongest NIT field ever?

Just because you're from a super conference does not mean you have a super team.

Are you seeing a big difference for those that played winter ball? I would think they would be a lot sharper.

It does strike me that the main intent for the "classic" for those that watch it is just to give a baseball fix for those who feel about the game as I feel about football. I just can't get into it though.

I have been watching a few games but I am not worried about the US or actually putting in any care into it. Basically it is a baseball fix before the regular season starts. If they played this in August, I would NOT pay attention at all.

What is interesting is to see the player that have been playing winter ball versus the MLB guys who have not. I also like to see if I can spot any up and comers.

Keep on writing Dave!
