Sharks Injuries Mount

Posted by davefowkes on 03/05/2009

First it was Jeremy Roenick and Mike Grier, and now it is Evgeni Nabokov! David Pollack of the Mercury News is reporting that Nabokov “tweaked” something this week and will again be out of action tonight when the Sharks host the Minnesota Wild. Somehow I can’t say this surprises me. I thought it was a bit fishy that Boucher got a third straight start for San Jose on Tuesday when the returned home and eventually lost to Dallas 4-1. In true hockey tradition, no details about the injury have been leaked or more importantly how long Nabokov will be out. Fortunately for the Sharks, they have a very competent back up in Brian Boucher to carry the load for as long as needed. Thomas Greiss has been called up from Worcester to back up Boucher.

In other Sharks news:  Jamie McGinn has been summoned from Worcester. Newly acquired Travis Moen and Kent Huskins will be in San Jose this evening but neither will debut with the team until Saturday night in Vancouver.

Big game for San Jose tonight. They don’t want to drop two games at home. They have not been playing well. They are talking a good game about taking fewer penalties and playing smarter, but tonight they need to turn the talk into action! The must stay out of the box!!!
